Monsoon rains not far behind in Hyderabad

June 17, 2016 7:00 PM | Skymet Weather Team

Hyderabad is gearing up for another spell of good rains. In fact, we are expecting Southwest Monsoon to reach Telangana by next 2 to 3 days.

The upper air cyclonic circulation over westcentral and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal is lying in very close proximity to the coastal areas of South Odisha and North Andhra Pradesh. It is likely to move inland by tomorrow, enhancing rainfall activities over several parts of the country.

The fresh Monsoon system will become well-marked and travel up to Central India in next 24 hours.  It will bring fairly widespread rainfall over the region. Intense rainfall activity is likely over Vidarbha, South Chhattisgarh and Telangana. Tomorrow, Hyderabad could receive good showers. Gradually the rainfall belt will extend up to East Madhya Pradesh, Marathwada and Madhya Maharashtra.

Talking about Southwest Monsoon, we can say that it remains sluggish over the western side while it has been actively covering the eastern parts of the country. The eastern end of the Monsoon arm has advanced over most parts of West Bengal and Sikkim. It has also taken under its purview coastal parts of Odisha, some parts of Jharkhand and Bihar.

Conditions are now favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon over entire Konkan & Goa, entire Telangana including Hyderabad within next 23 days. Some parts of Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh and East Madhya Pradesh will also come under its purview.
