Rains have hit East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha attributed to the confluence zone which is presently lying over central parts of the country extending from Coastal Karnataka to Vidarbha region. This system is likely to extend further towards northern parts of West Bengal, slightly shifting toward eastward.

This system is likely to give light rain and thundershower activities at few places like Umaria, Sidhi, Rewa, Pendra, Gondia, Nagpur, Raipur, Jagdalpur, Surajpur and Ambikapur.

In past 24 hours, light rain and thunderstorm activities with gusty winds were witnessed over Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha. Balaghat, Betul, Chhindwara, Dindori, Mandla, Seoni, Amravati, Bhandara, Gondiya and Nagpur were the regions to witness weather activity.

Since the system is likely to persist over the region, rain and thundershower activities would continue during next 48 hours. The thundershower activities would be light in nature and would be mainly observed during late afternoon or evening starting from today which is expected to continue up till February 25. During this time, normal thunder clouds would be a sight and if the cloud gains height because of local weather conditions, then hailstorm could be a chance at few pockets.

As the two air masses, warm and moist from Bay of Bengal and the other cool and dry winds from northwest interact, they tend to give spells.
