Nights turn chilly in Madhya Pradesh as winter sets in early

Madhya Pradesh is the only region of the country to witness the first wintry chill of the season, with mercury plunging significantly.

Night temperatures over several parts of the state are settling in the range of 12°C to 17°C degrees, which is below the normal average. Day temperatures are also settling near normal.

According to Skymet Weather, this continuous drop in the minimum temperatures can be attributed to cold and dry northwesterly winds over most parts of Northwest, Central and East India.

Besides, this no significant weather system such as any cyclonic circulation or Western Disturbance has developed in or around the region that could change the wind pattern. Though a Western Disturbance can be seen moving across Jammu and Kashmir, but it will not have any impact.

Let us have a look at the temperatures recorded across Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday.

As per the meteorologists, continous flow of the these dry and cold winds lead to the gradual decrease in the minimum temperatures and until and unless these winds are interrupted, mercury will continue to drop marginally in the coming days as well. Moreover, Madhya Pradesh has a rocky terrain, which cools down much faster than any other region. Usually during this time of the year, some or other system do keep affecting the weather, that curtails fall in night temperatures.

However, day maximums increase on account of clear sky and bright sunshine but even they are just below normal or near normal.

Further, with no system in offing, we do not expect any major changes in the prevailing weather conditions with marginal drop in the minimums.

Meanwhile, rest of Northwest and Central India have been witnessing pleasant weather conditions.
