The weather gods must be unbelievably happy this Christmas as the hills of North India has finally witness the first snowfall of the season. All the major hills stations including Shimla and Manali witnessed rainfall with moderate snowfall.

All thanks to the sudden activeness of the Western Disturbance over the hills has resulted in the season’s first snowfall. Previously the movement of Western Disturbance was confined to the higher altitudes of the region. Thus any rainfall or snowfall remained absent from the region.

Along with snowfall over northern hills of India, northwestern plains like Punjab and few areas of Haryana witnessed some rainfall activity. Places like Ambala and Chandigarh witnessed some good spell of rain. These rains have occurred over the region because of the induced cyclonic circulation over the region.

This weather activity could not have come at a better time than this, as Christmas is a time for festivities & people vacationing to the popular hill stations. So people visiting hill stations of North India will thoroughly enjoy their vacation.

In the next 24 hours, many regions of Uttarakhand will also witness good rain & snowfall. But this snowfall is likely to continue for the next 24 hours.
