Pre-Monsoon Showers For Bengaluru On Weekend

The activity is not very heavy, but still the observatories at HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Limited) and the city both accumulated about 26 mm of rainfall during this period. The normal monthly rainfall for the city in April is 41.5mm. More importantly, the temperatures have remained checked; moreover, the minimum temperatures are hovering around a pleasant 20s. Even the day temperature is mostly below normal, despite regular sunshine in the forenoon and early afternoon hours. Otherwise, April is considered one of the hottest months, along with May.
Last year, the city witnessed sweltering hot days in April. The city recorded the second-highest temperature of 38.5°C on 28th April 2024. The highest ever temperature of 39.2°C for the city was recorded in April 2016. The day temperature has exceeded 36°C in April for the last 15 years, with the only exception in 2018, when it was restricted to 34.9°C. This season, the HAL observatory has recorded a high of 34.5°C, and the city observatory registered a day high of 35.1°C during the first half of April 2025. The temperature is unlikely to exceed 35°C in the next one week or so.
The South Peninsula trough is running from Telangana to Kerala, across North Interior Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka. The trough is going to be active and also oscillate east-west during this week. More pre-monsoon showers are likely for the city, almost on a daily basis, until Sunday. These showers could be more intense and of longer duration on Sunday. More often, the preferred timings for the showers will be between 4p.m. and 8p.m.
