Those who are planning to visit the famous Vaishno Devi shrine this weekend might have to halt their plans for a few more days. The weather condition prevailing over Jammu and Kashmir including Katra will not allow pilgrims to plan a trip to visit the shrine.

As per Skymet Weather, a fresh Western Disturbance is marked over North Pakistan and is expected to move towards Jammu and Kashmir on January 14. This is expected to bring along with it some rain and thundershowers over the region. Moreover, this would lead to a drop in maximum temperatures as well.

At present also, minimum temperature of Katra is 3°C which is 3 degrees below the normal. However, after January 14, a marginal rise in minimum temperature is expected. Though the cloudy sky is expected to continue. Moreover, due to a drop in maximum temperatures, cold day conditions are expected to continue for another week.

Thus, the shrine is expected to witness some rain and thundershowers on January 15 and simultaneously on January 16 as well over Katra and including the entire Vaishno Devi path.

Furthermore, since the pilgrimage is at a higher altitude, temperatures are also expected to reach the sub-zero level. As per the weatherman, hills near Vaishno Devi may experience snowfall on January 15 and on January 16 leading to severe cold and frosty conditions.
