Delhi Rains

Delhi is heading for a spell of thundershower just at the beginning of next week. The national capital of Delhi is likely to have rain and thundershowers in many areas on 22nd and 23rd March and hailstorm in some pockets with a large probability of intense weather on 23rd March. The residual effect may leave light weather activity even on 24th March in some areas.

Delhi received its last spell on 11th and 12thMar when it was lashed with moderate rain and thundershower, more of it on the 2nd day. Dry spell thereafter has raised the mercury level to go beyond 35°C for the 2nd time during this month. Delhi may add another 4-5mm of rain to its earlier bash of 13mm and go past its monthly normal of 15.9mm. The day temperature in Delhi will also drop by 2-4°C to stay in the low 30’s.

An active western disturbance along with induced cyclonic circulation will arrive on 21st March. The spread of weather activity will increase in the subsequent 48 hours to cover Delhi and neighbouring areas. Some of these may experience lightening and hailstorm more likely on 23rd March. The weather belt will keep expanding and also shift eastward. The remnant of the system, aided with local heat has the potential to cast a weak spell even on 24th March. General clearance is expected from 25th March onward which is likely to continue for the remaining days of the month.
