Since the last few days, dry and warm weather conditions are prevailing over the entire state of Tamil Nadu. However, during the last 24 to 48 hours, western parts of Tamil Nadu have been received light rainfall activity particularly the hilly regions.

At present an upper air trough is persisting and extending from Gulf of Mannar to Telangana across central parts of Tamil Nadu.

In the wake of this weather system, moist air mass is affecting over the entire state. Hence, during the next 24 to 36 hours, spell of rain and thundershowers will affect over some places of Tamil Nadu. Thus, we can say that light rains are likely to occur at isolated places over Tamil Nadu and Puducherry region.

Places like Nagapattinam, Rameswaram, Cuddalore, Thanjavur, Coonoor, Ooty, Kodaikanal and Madurai will observe light rain.

Chennai weather will remain dry and warm. But isolated places over the city may experience thunderstorm for a short duration. The sky condition will be partly cloudy. Maximum and Minimum temperatures are likely to be around 32 and 24 deg Celsius respectively.

After 36 hours, as the above-mentioned weather systems will weaken and shift westwards, the weather over Chennai, Tamil Nadu will become almost dry with partly cloudy sky.
