During the last 24, light to moderate rains occurred along the West Coast including many parts of Maharashtra and the capital city, Mumbai.
In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Friday, Mahabaleshwar recorded heavy rain to the tune of 81 mm, followed by Ratnagiri 24.4 mm, Alibagh 20 mm, Aurangabad 6.3 mm, Buldana 2 mm, Dahanu 14.7 mm, Vengurla 13.2 mm, Harnai 12.5 mm, Kolhapur 12.8 mm, Nanded 11 mm, Nasik 9 mm, Pune 6.8 mm.

Talking about the capital city, Mumbai’s Santacruz observatory recorded 18.1 mm of rain, followed by Colaba observatory at 6 mm.
The off-shore trough is extending from South Maharashtra Coast to Kerala Coast. Under the influence of this system, moderate to heavy rains will continue along the western coast along with light to moderate rainfall activity over Madhya Maharashtra.
These rains will continue over the area. Simultaneously due to the depression marked over Northwest Bay of Bengal off West Bengal and Odisha Coast, Vidarbha region will also receive heavy to very heavy rains during the next 48 hours.
Places like Gondia, Nagpur, Chandrapur, Gadhchiroli, Wardha, Parbhani, Amravati and Akola are likely to witness heavy to very heavy rain on July 22 and July 23.
Thereafter, rain intensity over these areas is likely to decrease.
