Rains for Rajasthan to bring slight relief from warm and dry weather

Southwest Monsoon 2018 ended on a dry note for Rajasthan and similar trend is continuing in the month of October also. Rajasthan usually records rain on account of the Cyclonic Circulations forming over Central Pakistan and adjoining parts of Rajasthan.

Similar is the situation at present and a Cyclonic Circulation is seen over West Rajasthan and its adjoining areas. A trough is seen extending from this weather system to western parts of Madhya Pradesh. In wake of this, the Golden city of Jaisalmer located on the west side of Rajasthan also witnessed light rains during the last 24 hours and this is said to be the first spell of rain for West Rajasthan, this month.

We expect cloud cover over southern and western parts of Rajasthan to continue for the next 24 hours as well. However, the intensity of rain will be very less, and the western states would only witness isolated to very light rains which cannot be ruled out for a short duration.

Temperatures may fall over these specified areas due to these rains. Meanwhile, North Rajasthan will remain dry and warm throughout this time.

These light rains would not contribute in any way to increase soil moisture or help in water restoration. The crops have already harvested and thus now farmers would not face any danger. On the contrary, cloudy sky will give marginal relief from the scorching sun.
