Rains likely to increase over Raipur, Ambikapur, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack; Flashfloods in Some areas

Chhattisgarh and Odisha have been witnessing fairly good amount of rainfall since past many days. In the last 24 hours from 8:30 a.m. on Saturtday, Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh received 56 mm of rainfall, Jagdalpur 26.3 mm, Pendra 16.2 mm, and Ambikapur observed 3.4 mm of rains. During the similar time frame, Koraput in Odisha received 40.2 mm of rainfall, Dhenkanal 32 mm, and Paradip witnessed 17.2 mm of rains.

It is anticipated that light to moderate rains are likely to continue over Chhattisgarh and Odisha for the next few days. As per Skymet Weather the Low Pressure lies over Northwest Bay of Odisha Coast and this system is likely to intensify more hence extensive clouding with moderate to heavy rain will occur at many places over the state of Odisha during the next 36 to 48 hours.

Thereafter rainfall pattern will be shifting westwards over to Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh region as this Low Pressure is likely to move in West northwestwards direction.

As on July 15, the rain deficiency of Odisha stands at 8% while, Chhattisgarh is rain deficit by 10%. Due to these ongoing rains over both the states the rain deficit is likely to subside and would improve gradually. Temperatures across both the states will remain near normal and the temperatures are not likely to hike up.
