During the last 24 hours, light rains and thundershowers occurred at many places over parts of Northeast states. While Barapani recorded 9 mm rains, Lumding 9 mm, Kohima 5 mm and Imphal recorded 4 mm rains during the last 24 hours.

These weather conditions are prevailing due to the presence of a Western Disturbance moving across higher latitudes. Its induced Cyclonic Circulation is over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and adjoining parts of Assam.

Simultaneously an upper air Trough is also extending from Sub-Himalayan West Bengal to Jharkhand. Under the influence of these weather conditions, entire Northeast India is going to experience light to moderate spells of rains and thundershowers during the next 24 to 36 hours. Meanwhile, a significant fall in day temperatures is likely.

Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and northern parts of Assam are likely to receive more rains activities as compared to the southern parts of Northeast India. During the same period, hailstorm is also likely at isolated places along with strong gusty winds.

Places like Barpeta, New Bongaigaon, Goalpara, Guwahati, Sonitpur, Dibrugarh, Kohima, Shillong, Agartala, Imphal, Pasighat and Itanagar would be experiencing light to moderate rains and thundershowers.

After 24 to 36 hours, the weather conditions will start improving. Following this, the day temperatures will increase once again while night temperatures will start falling.
