Relief from heavy rains for Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh

November 21, 2021 1:03 PM |

The low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal strengthened into a depression and crossed the northern coast of Tamil Nadu. Between November 17 and 19, heavy rains caused havoc in many districts of Andhra Pradesh including Tamil Nadu.

The waterlogging and flood situation in Chennai once again turned critical. Many people lost their lives due to heavy rains in Andhra Pradesh. Several districts in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu are still submerged and the water is slowly receding.

After crossing the coast, the depression weakened as a low pressure and has almost dissipated. At present, a Cyclonic Circulation is persisting over South Interior Karnataka, due to which one or two heavy rains are possible over Karnataka during the next 2 days.

Heavy reduction in rain activities has now been observed over Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. During next 2 days, there may be light to moderate rain over these two states.

At present, a Cyclonic Circulation has formed over Southeast Bay of Bengal, due to which a Low-Pressure Area is likely to form at the same place during the next 2 days.

This Low-Pressure Area will move westwards and give heavy to very heavy rain at a few places over South Coastal Andhra Pradesh including Coastal Districts of Tamil Nadu between November 25 and 27.
