After surpassing the monthly average rainfall in June and turning weather pleasant for the hot and humid Mumbai, continual Mumbai rains are expected to remain rampant in the city till the end of first week of July.

Monsoon had hit the financial capital of India last week after which, rains in Mumbai did not disappoint the residents. Even though Monsoon came late by ten days, moderate to heavy showers managed to cross the monthly average rainfall of 523 mm with aplomb. Mumbai rains that were heavy yesterday also crossed the 100 mm mark in last 24 hours.

Torrential rain in past four days has created havoc in the city as cars have been left to crawl at a snail’s pace and local trains and other flights have been delayed or canceled.

Mumbai is likely to witness heavy rain for another one week as the off shore trough lying over the West Coast is likely to get active due to the moisture incursion from the low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal. According to Skymet Weather, incessant Mumbai rains will continue to give a superb performance, letting July begin on a rainy note.
