Short spell of scattered rain lashes Northwest India

February 19, 2022 2:44 PM |

As predicted by Skymet Weather, rainfall activities along with thunderstorm occurred over parts of Haryana, Delhi NCR and Rajasthan. An induced Cyclonic Circulation was over Northwest Rajasthan and a feeble trough was extending up to the south of Delhi.

The weather was almost clear up to afternoon with a few scattered clouds. Rain and thunderstorm activities commenced over parts of Bikaner, Churu, Sikar, Pilani and Jhunjhunu by late afternoon and gradually covered Mahendergarh, Charkhi Dadri, Jhajjar, Rohtak, Narnaul, Rewari, Nuh, Palwal, Faridabad, Gurgaon and parts of Delhi.

These rain activities were accompanied by a short spell of strong winds. As the weather system was not very strong, rain and thunderstorm lasted only for a few hours and the intensity was also not heavy.

Now the Cyclonic Circulation and a trough has weakened and the weather has cleared up. We expect moderate North westerly winds to continue over Northwest Plains for next 48 hours. These moderate dry and cool winds may drop the maximums of Northwest plains marginally.

A fresh Western Disturbance will give moderate to heavy snowfall over Hills on February 22nd and 23rd. There are chances of light scattered rain over foothills of Punjab and Haryana around February 22nd Jan 23rd. Remaining parts of Punjab Haryana as well as northwest India will remain dry.
