Slow march of Northeast Monsoon continues, below normal rainfall expected this week

Northeast Monsoon has slowed down for the last few days, rainfall has been limited to a few areas, particularly to just about a few places in the coastal region of Tamil Nadu. Similar conditions are expected in the coming days as well.

In fact, only moderate rains at the most will be seen in parts, that too being confined to just the coastline of India. Most of the places in South India will remain either dry or mostly light in a few areas.

Thus, below normal rainfall is expected to be seen on account of the Northeast Monsoon. The reason for such a mild week is attributed to the absence of any major system in the Bay of Bengal.

Moreover, whatever system persists, it is a little far too south moving across Sri Lanka and adjoining Comorin region beyond the reach of the subdivisions of Northeast Monsoon including Kerala, Rayalaseema, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, South Interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Therefore, rains in South India will remain far and few for the coming week
