Telangana awaits good spell of rain after a prolonged dry period

Telangana has been experiencing dry weather conditions for the last many days. In fact, southeasterly winds from the Bay of Bengal have kept the day and night temperatures above normal in most parts of the state.

The Confluence Zone which was giving rain in Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha has now shifted southward. It will start affecting Telangana tomorrow onward. By 8 or 9 February, we expect light to moderate rain with one or two intense spells in Telangana.

This is when the day temperature will begin to drop by three to four degrees. The night temperature, on the other hand, will remain above normal.

Strong winds and lightning strikes will accompany the spell of rain. Isolated hailstorm is also a possibility in parts of Telangana. Hyderabad may receive a few good spells of rain.

Rain in the region is a rare phenomenon during this time of the year and therefore it can be termed as unseasonal. It is only due to the formation of a Trough or a Confluence Zone that rain is experienced in the region at this point of time.

The Confluence Zone will start weakening by February 10 and the weather will once again turn dry. The dry condition will force the day temperature to rise again.
