The winter season is marked by large fluctuations for the westernmost state of Gujarat. The weather conditions of Gujarat are highly influenced by the weather systems of North India and the wind intrusion from the Arabian Sea. The proximity of the state to the sea bring changes in the wind pattern.
Most of the variations in the weather scenario of Gujarat can be traced from the variation in the night temperatures. From recording single digit minimums to higher teens, the minimums of Gujarat keep fluctuating.
The day temperature also starts rising becoming warmer during the afternoon hours hovering between high and low 30’s in parts. In fact, as per the weathermen at Skymet Weather, pleasant days for Gujarat are approaching their end now. The second week of February is a warmer period for the ‘Jewel of the West’, Gujarat. Whereas, March is almost like Summers to the state, while May is the hottest of all.

During the latter half of the month, most parts of the state record maximums in high 30’s. There have been previous records when most stations of the state reeled under a near-40-degree maximum. However, Saurashtra and Kutch regions are hotter than the mainland.
Districts such as Bhuj, Rajkot, Vadodara, Idar and Ahmedabad record the daytime high between 38 and 39 degrees Celsius during the second week of the month. Moreover, the districts along the coastal belt of the state also reel under warm weather conditions, though a shade lesser.
The increased humidity levels, warm weather conditions lead to uncomfortable weather conditions leading to increased discomfort levels. As of now also, the temperatures across most parts of the state are near the 35-degree mark and are expected to rise further.
Rainfall is not expected to make an appearance for at least a fortnight and the entire state would continue to reel under warm conditions.
