Unseasonal rains all set to lash the state of Gujarat

November 29, 2021 7:39 PM |

The state of Gujarat is all set to see some rains as a system is coming up in the Arabian Sea as an offshoot of the one, which was earlier over the Comorin region. Possibly, a low pressure will develop over the Arabian Sea from which, a trough will extend along the West Coast right up to . In all probability, a Cyclonic Circulation is expected to come up over extreme Northeast Arabian Sea off Gulf of Cambay, around December 1.

Under these two situations, the trough and the upcoming Circulation over Cambay, unseasonal rains are expected to be seen over Coastal parts of Gujarat. On November 30, rains are likely to commence over South Coastal Gujarat including Vapi, Valsad, Navsari up to Surat, Bharuch and along southern parts of Saurashtra.

Once the circulation becomes more marked, and inches closer to the coast off Saurashtra, fairly widespread rains possibly a few heavy spells are expected to be seen over the aforementioned areas around December 1. Areas including Mahuva, Bhavnagar going down to Gir Somnath and Veraval. Interiors including Junagadh and Botada may also see some rains.

Rainfall will be very light far to the north of Saurashtra including Surendranagar and Rajkot. Further along the coastline,  rain may or may not be seen over Dwarka, Okha, Porbandar, Jamnagar. Even cities like Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad may also see rains around December 1. Rainfall will reduce around December 2 over these areas, but some showers are expected then as well.
