Very heavy rain in Vijayanagar, Khammam, Bhadrachalam, Jagdalpur, Koraput likely

The state of Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana received good rainfall activity during the last 24 hours. In fact, Sambalpur, Khammam and Koraput recorded heavy rains to the tune of 72 mm, 71 mm and 67 mm, respectively.

In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Saturday, Vijayawada recorded 61 mm of rain, followed by Machilipatnam 41 mm, Angul 40 mm, Phulbani 37 mm, Nalgonda 35 mm, Narsapur 31 mm, Bhadrachalam and Hanamkonda 23 mm and Medak 18 mm.

At present, the cyclonic circulation which lies over Northwest Bat of Bengal off Odisha and West Bengal coast is extending up to 7.6 km and tilting southwestwards with extending of heights.

This system is likely to intensity into a low-pressure area. Thus, we expect very heavy rainfall activity in pockets of North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Northeast Telangana, South Odisha and southern parts of Chhattisgarh.

Meanwhile, remaining parts of Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will experience moderate to heavy rainfall activity during the next 24 to 36 hours.

Thereafter, rainfall will decrease over most parts of all these states, as the above system will move west/northwestwards.

Places such as Vijayanagar, Khammam, Bhadrachalam, Jagdalpur, Sukma and Koraput are likely to witness very heavy rain showers.
