Rain in Odisha

The Pre Monsoon season has not been a bad one for Odisha unlike many other parts of India and even the month of June has turned out to be decently well. The state of Odisha has witnessed good rain and thundershowers during the last 24 hours. Moreover, as of June 2, the state is Surplus by 47 percent. Now, on and off rains will continue over Odisha during the next few days.

In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, hefty showers of 60 mm were observed by Bhawanipatna, Paradip witnessed heavy rains of 49 mm, Chandbali 32 mm, Angul 13 mm and Gopalpur 14 mm.

A Cyclonic Circulation is persisting over South Jharkhand and adjoining areas due to which on and off rainfall and thundershower activities are expected to continue over Odisha for the next few days. Some areas may see heavy spell of rains as well.

Rainfall will continue for another week or so, and north coastal Odisha will be the region with most amount of rains. Southern parts of Odisha will see isolated rainfall activity. Thus, rainfall statistics may be on the excess for the first week of June.

Temperatures will remain below the 40 degree mark over most places with only isolated pockets of Odisha will see higher temperatures. These rainfall activities will result in the reduction of temperatures over most parts of the state wherein temperatures were running on the higher side.
