Winter chill grips Central India

Day and night temperatures of many parts of the country particularly northwest and Central India are heading south. Rajasthan witnessed freezing temperatures. Most parts of Madhya Pradesh and parts of Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and Gujarat also witnessed significant drop in minimums.

Temperatures of Madhya Pradesh Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra dropped by 2 to 4 degrees during last 24 hours. Pinching cold is being felt over Gwalior, Nowgong, Guna, Rewa, Umariya where temperatures are in the range of 2-3 degree. Temperatures of Rajgarh, Shajapur, Bhopal, Sagar, Tikamgarh and Mandla are between 3 and 5 degree. In fact, Gwalior and Nowgong recorded 1.8 degree each.

Pendra Road, Ambikapur and nearby districts of north Chhattisgarh are also witnessing cold wave to severe cold wave conditions. Gandhinagar, Kandla, Bhuj and Naliya in Gujarat recorded 10 degree or less temperatures whereas Rajkot, Surendra Nagar, Ahmedabad and Vadodara are between 10 and 12 degree.

Cold wave to severe cold wave conditions will persist over Central part of the country for another two to three days. Thereafter there may be marginal relief as the temperatures will increase by 2-3 degree due to the approaching Western disturbance.
