Weather conditions in both the plains and the hills of North India remained mild in terms of winter during the last few days of December in the year 2016. However, as we entered the first leg of 2017, weather patterns have changed significantly.

For the past few days, widespread moderate to heavy rain and snow have been lashing many parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and a few areas of Uttarakhand. In fact, the plains of North India have also begun to receive light to moderate rains with isolated heavy showers.

Similarly, the holy pilgrim spot of Vaishno Devi has also been observing good rains for the past 24 hours. In fact, nearby hills have also observed heavy snowfall as well. Due to this, chilly weather conditions have made a comeback over the hills making it difficult for the pilgrims planning to visit the shrine.

During the next 24 hours, moderate to heavy rains are expected to continue at Vasihno Devi which may cause more trouble for the devotees. As per reports, due to inclement weather conditions, chopper services may also suffer a beating.
