Winters to now get even colder in North India

During the last few days, a light Western Disturbance was approaching and the wind speed was also very low over North India. Pollution remains at its peak in many parts of North India including Delhi due to light air and low temperatures. When the sky is cloudy or the pollution is high, the drop in minimum temperature is less.

Now, the Western Disturbance has moved ahead and strong winds are likely from the northwest direction. As a result of this, pollution will decrease and minimum temperature will reduce. At present, maximum temperatures are below normal in most parts of North India and minimum temperatures are around normal.

By the end of this week, many states of North India including Delhi, such as Punjab, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh and North Rajasthan may see a drop of three to four degrees in the minimum temperature. The cold in morning and evening will increase considerably though the day will remain normal. The day will be sunny while hazy and foggy mornings.

Cold wave conditions are likely to prevail in some parts of North India till the third week of November. This year, due to the influence of La Nina, winter is expected to be above normal in North Central and East India.
