January 14, 2016 12:06 PM |

Snow havok in UKYes, you heard it right! Cold Artic winds coming down to Britain could make it freeze in temperatures colder than the South Pole.

A big freeze alert has been issued for Britain with forecast of snow, ice, hail and bitter gales in the coming days.

Friday could witness temperatures as low as -15°C; definitely making temperatures of -13°C in Antarctica seem relatively mild and pleasant. The worst hit areas will be the northern parts of England.

Along with the bitter winds, snow will blanket parts of the country on Thursday. Temperatures will plunge to about -8°C.

Several alerts have been issued across the country by the Met Office.

The bitter Arctic blast will make Britain shiver under sub-zero temperatures till the coming weekend.

On Friday several parts of Scotland could witness temperatures around -10°C, gradually dropping to -15°C. The Met Office seems to have issued a Level 2 cold weather health alert till about Sunday. Some places could receive about 3 cm to 6 cm of snow, with the higher reaches receiving more snow.

Scotland is not the only place to receive heavy snowfall. Yellow warnings for snow have also been issued for the North East , Yorkshire and the East Midlands. We cannot rule out severe weather conditions in the East Anglia as well. Heavy rainfall is likely in the south of England.
