Delhi/NCR received moderate monsoon showers for the third consecutive day. Sharp showers lashed across Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Faridabad. Unlike other days, the rainfall spread was even and the duration was nearly equal. Base station Safdarjung and airport observatory Palam recorded 39mm and 35mm of rainfall, respectively. Rain and thundershowers continue and will last through the day, with short breaks in between.

The cyclonic circulation of the low pressure lies over Southwest Uttar Pradesh in the lower levels. Another cyclonic circulation is marked over South Haryana and adjoining North Rajasthan between 5,000’ and 10,000’. The monsoon trough joining these two circulations is running south of Delhi but very close to it in the lower levels. The proximity of the trough will keep the monsoon activity going over the Delhi region for the next 5-6 days.

Delhi has exceeded the monthly rainfall for July. As against the normal of 195.8mm, the base station Safdarjung recorded 259.6mm of rainfall between 01st and 31st July 2025. The capital city surpassed its average rainfall for the eighth consecutive time in July. Since 2010, the city has exceeded its monthly normal on twelve occasions, the highest rainfall being 507.1mm recorded in July 2021. The highest ever rainfall of 632mm in July was registered in 2003.

The monsoon trough will remain in the vicinity of Delhi for the next 5-6 days. The remnant circulation of the low pressure is likely to hang around over Delhi and adjoining parts of Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. The trough will pass through this feature during this period and keep its closeness to Delhi. The upcoming weekend is likely to have moderate to heavy rainfall, more so on Sunday. The weather activity will continue as a regular feature during the first week of August. The temperature is unlikely to exceed 35°C for the next seven days. It may hover between 32°C and 34°C. The month of August will make a rainy start for Delhi and suburbs. La Nina: EQSOI - A Better Representation Of Equatorial Circulation
