Delhi/NCR received light rain in some parts in the past 24 hours. The eastern parts of NCR like Noida, Ghaziabad, and Faridabad witnessed light rain this morning.

However, Palam, Safdarjung, and Lodhi Road Meteorological Office did not record any rainfall in the past 24 hours. A few observatories like Jafarpur, Narela, and Pusa registered rainfall of 1–2 mm. Light rainfall is likely today, and an uptick in the weather activity is expected tomorrow.

The monsoon trough has been placed north of Delhi but not very far. This trough will keep oscillating over the next 5–6 days but remain mostly north of base. Also, this feature will keep having embedded cyclonic circulations, like the one over Punjab and Haryana, which has become less marked now. Another one may form over Southwest Uttar Pradesh between 08th and 09th August. These perturbations will keep the trough oscillating and triggering rain and thundershowers.

Light to moderate rainfall will be a regular feature for Delhi and its suburbs during this week. The showers may be heavier tomorrow over Delhi/NCR. Sharp and intense showers are expected towards the later part of the day and may become further heavy at night. With a pause in between, the weather activity is likely to pick up again around the weekend, between 08th and 10th August, with a fair chance of spillover into the next week.

With this pattern, the day temperature will remain checked under 35°C and may hover between 32°–34°C. No disruption is likely for Delhiites during the week, except for some partial impact late in the evening and night tomorrow. The western peripherals of Delhi, like Palam and Gurugram, will be more vulnerable to heavy weather activity.
