These showers may be taken as part of pre-monsoon activity before the arrival of the monsoon. However, if these showers are not considered a ‘monsoon call’ now, then possibly, the city may have to wait for about a week or even more for the formal arrival of the monsoon.
A monsoon system is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal sometime next week. Cyclonic circulation over the west-central Bay of Bengal will form around 10th June 2025. This is likely to become more marked as a monsoon low/depression follows. The system may move inland on 12th June or so. The presence and movement of the system will bring in favourable conditions for the advancement of the monsoon over the city and surrounding area. Even in this scenario, the monsoon will be just on time for the city.
