Key Takeaways:

  • Midnight thunderstorms led to a noticeable dip in temperatures across Delhi.
  • Twin circulations over Haryana and Southeast Rajasthan are influencing local weather.
  • Evening and nighttime light showers may continue till 07th May.
  • Dry and hotter conditions will return from 08th May, with weekend temperatures nearing 39°C.

Another spell of rain and thundershowers lashed Delhi region around midnight. Lightning and gusty winds accompanied the thunder clouds briefly. There was a dip in the temperature by about 4°–5°C. The minimum temperature dropped to under 20°C for the second consecutive day. Earlier, the day temperature had plunged by 7°–8°C across most parts of the capital city. The maximum of 32.2°C yesterday was the lowest temperature since 09th April 2026. Mercury is expected to rise gradually during this week. Today, the day temperature is likely to reach about 36°C.

Wind pattern over Delhi area is quite irregular. Winds are mostly light and variable. There are two small-scale circulations in the neighbourhood. A low-level circulation is marked over Haryana and another one over Southeast Rajasthan region. A feeble trough connecting these two circulations is passing close to Delhi. Rise in the temperature in the afternoon, coupled with the proximity of the trough, may give a spell of fleeting showers in the evening hours.

This pattern will persist tomorrow as well. However, no significant weather is expected during the day, but light showers are likely in the night. The spillover effect may be seen during night hours on 07th May as well. Sky conditions will clear and generally dry weather is expected between 08th and 10th May 2026. Upcoming weekend on 09th and 10th May is likely to be hot and sultry. The day temperature may reach about 39°C (+/- 1°C).
