Under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal, a low-pressure area is likely to develop within 24-36 hours. The circulation will get more organized and cover a broad area along and off the East Coast. The low-pressure area is expected to travel across the eastern and central parts of the country. The outskirts of the system may even reach the peripherals of East Rajasthan and Gujarat between 13th and 16th September 2026.

The weather activity will start over Coastal Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand today itself. It will consolidate further tomorrow and increase in spread and intensity thereafter. Active to vigorous monsoon conditions will prevail in many parts between 12th and 16th September 2026. Thereafter, the coverage will start shrinking, and the strength will also reduce. These mild conditions may extend for the subsequent one week or so.

The states under active to vigorous monsoon conditions will include West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. The landlocked subdivisions of Maharashtra will witness decent showers between 13th and 15th September 2026. West Madhya Pradesh, North Madhya Maharashtra and South Coastal Gujarat are likely to come in for heavy weather activity during this period. The peripheral weather activity will reach the outskirts of East Rajasthan as well.

The entire state of Uttar Pradesh and rain-stressed pockets of Punjab and Haryana will also get moderate showers in the last leg of the prolonged wet spell. The weather activity will start vacating the western, northern and central parts of the country anytime after 18th September 2026. There are no indications of any other system coming up over the Indian Seas during the rest of the month.
