In the intermediate years, the monthly rainfall remained under 300 mm. The month of September has a normal rainfall of 128 mm. Like August, the base station exceeded this target during September 2024 and 2025, both. As the monsoon normally starts withdrawing anytime after the third week of September, most of the rainfall is realised during the first half of the month. Last year, the monsoon had withdrawn on 24th September, a day prior to its normal date of 25th September. Anyway, over the next few days, the city will enjoy monsoon activity of different flavours, like light, moderate and heavy showers.
The monsoon trough is the main trigger for rainfall over Delhi around this time. The western disturbance over the mountains and the low-pressure area over the eastern states will govern the location of the trough with respect to Delhi. As it seems, the east-west-oriented feature will keep proximity with Delhi/NCR during this week and spill over to the start of next week as well.
Today and tomorrow, rain and thunderstorm activity, mostly light to moderate in intensity, is expected during the late evening and night hours. The scale and spread are expected to increase between 04th and 06th September 2026. The remnant effect may be seen on 07th September as well. Broad clearance is likely on and after 09th September. The day temperature today will reach close to 36°C. For the rest of the days, it may get arrested at 33°C (+/-1°C).
