Just hours after a devastating cloudburst in Uttarkashi, another intense cloudburst struck Sukhi Top near Dharali on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, triggering flash floods in the region.

The sudden downpour caused heavy damage in high-altitude villages, particularly in Dharali, where several houses were either damaged or washed away by the gushing waters.

The cloudburst reportedly occurred in the catchment area of the Kheer Ganga river, worsening the flood situation. Local teams and the Indian Army were quickly mobilised to begin rescue operations in the affected area. The full extent of the damage is still being assessed.

More rain is expected in the region over the next 48 hours. With the terrain already saturated, even moderate showers could trigger more flash floods or landslides. Authorities are on high alert, and residents are advised to exercise caution and follow local advisories.
