Weather Forecast for Jun 2: Monsoon to advance over Karnataka, TN, Goa; rain in Mumbai, Kolkata

Southwest Monsoon remained vigorous over Kerala while active Monsoon conditions were observed over the Northeastern states. Heavy to very heavy rains were observed over the West Coast with some parts recording rains in three digits.

Conditions are favourable for the further advancement of Monsoon over entire Kerala, parts of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and some more parts of Northeast India in the next 2-3 days.

A trough is extending from North West Arabian Sea to Kerala. With this, good rains will continue over Kerala, Karnataka and Coastal Maharashtra. Mumbai will also witness light rains. Also, Gujarat may witness some pre-Monsoon showers.

Parts of Madhya Maharashtra, South Interior Karnataka and Interior Tamil Nadu may witness scattered light to moderate rains while Lakshadweep may observe heavy showers.

Coming to Central India, dry weather will persist over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh with temperatures rising by 2-3 degrees.

Coming to North India, the ongoing rainfall activity will take a backseat and dry weather will take over as winds will now change their direction.

Live status of Lightning and thunder

Coming to East and Northeast India, a trough is seen over the foothills of Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar. Isolated rains are expected over these areas with light rains over West Bengal including Kolkata and Odisha. Northeast India will continue to witness good Monsoon rains.
