Cyclone Fani is expected to cross Odisha Coast by or before forenoon of May 3. Just before striking the coast, it would weaken slightly and make landfall as a very severe cyclonic storm near Puri.
Therefore, we expect extremely heavy rains over Coastal Odisha. Light to moderate are likely over North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and rest of Odisha. By late afternoon, rain belt will cover Gangetic West Bengal, many parts of Jharkhand and East Bihar. These areas will also witness moderate to heavy rains.
However, rains will reduce over Arunachal Pradesh, East Assam, Nagaland and Manipur. While, Meghalaya, Tripura and West Assam will receive good rains.
In North India, easterly winds are reaching the northern plains and a cyclonic circulation lies over Northeast Rajasthan. Therefore, scattered rains will occur in Uttar Pradesh. Isolated dust storm and thunderstorm may occur in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and North Rajasthan as well.
Due to the feeble Western Disturbance over East Jammu and Kashmir, isolated rains will occur over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
In Central India we expect partly cloudy to cloudy sky over Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. Isolated light rains may occur over Chhattisgarh and Coastal Maharashtra including Mumbai. However, South Rajasthan and Gujarat will remain dry and hot.
Lastly in South India, temperatures may increase further over Tamil Nadu and South Interior Karnataka. However, Telangana will have cloudy sky with chances of isolated light rain and thunderstorm.
