As predicted by Skymet Weather, during the last 24 hours, the southern parts of Andhra Pradesh such as Kurnool and Anantapur, witnessed good spell of rain and thundershower activities accompanied with strong gusty winds in the wake of the approaching Extremely Severe Cyclone Fani.
Now as the Extremely Severe Cyclone Fani over west-central and adjoining the southwest Bay of Bengal is nearing the Andhra Pradesh Coast gradually, rain intensity and spread will also increase. In fact, the coastal stations of Andhra Pradesh are expected to witness widespread rain and thundershowers during the next 24 hours. Interiors of the state may also observe spell of rains.
At present, Fani is centred at Latitude 13.9°N and Longitude 84°E, about 660 Km south-southwest of Puri, Odisha and 410 km south-southeast of Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
Thereafter, by May 2, as cyclone Fani will reach further north and start re-curving towards north/northeast, it will be closest to North Andhra Pradesh Coast. Thus, tomorrow we expect heavy to extremely heavy rains to lash the north-coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh such as Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, Tuni and Amalapuram.
Moreover, the wind speed over Coastal Andhra Pradesh will be very high in order of 60 to 70 kmph and gusting up to 80 to 90 kmph.
By May 3, the extremely severe cyclone Fani will move further towards Odisha and is very likely make landfall between the coasts of Gopalpur and Chandbali. Thus, rain intensity over southern districts of Andhra Pradesh will reduce. But scattered rain and thundershowers will continue over North Coastal Andhra Pradesh.
So, we can say that, during the next two to three day, Andhra Pradesh is all set to experience the effect of cyclone Fani in terms of torrential rains accompanied with very strong winds.
