Fresh Low-Pressure Area set to activate Monsoon 2019, widespread rains likely across India

Monsoon in India

During the Monsoon season, Low-Pressure Areas are the major Monsoon drivers, carrying rains over the country. Low-Pressure Areas mostly originate over the seas- either Arabian sea or Bay of Bengal. The Low-Pressure Areas formed over Bay of Bengal carry the Monsoon push forward in India. These systems can also form over the land and are called ‘in-situ’ systems.

Also, these can originate over the Burma region and then enter the Bay of Bengal while moving westwards.

In this season, we only saw one Low-Pressure Area moving across the central parts of the country till now. One another system is shortly going to approach the Indian subcontinent around July 1.

The first signs of the system will be visible in the form of a Cyclonic Circulation tomorrow itself. On June 30, the Circulation will get more organized over the Northeast Bay.

Once over the land, the system is going to cover a three-day journey from July 1 to July 4 while remaining active whilst shifting eastwards.

The Low-Pressure Area is set to follow the same track as the previous systems i.e. westwards while moving across Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Konkan region, inducing heavy rains over here.

All these areas are running rain deficient at present. This system will enhance water availability in the otherwise dry regions. The agriculture sector is set to benefit due to these upcoming rains.
