After playing hide and seek for long, Monsoon rains finally made a comeback over parts of Rajasthan. In the course of last 24 hours, light to moderate rains were witnessed over several places like Sikar that saw 18 mm of rains, Alwar 10 mm, Jaipur 10 mm, Kota 9 mm and Pilani 4 mm.

Now, the good news is that these rains are here to stay. Weathermen are of the view that good rain and thundershowers will continue over the eastern parts of the state.

These showers could be attributed to couple of weather systems over and near Rajasthan.  Twin cyclonic circulations can be seen impacting the weather over the state, one over South Gujarat and other over South Pakistan and adjoining West Rajasthan. These systems have been attracting humid southwesterly winds from the Arabian Sea.

Hence, places such as Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Kota, Jaipur, Sikar, Alwar and Sawai Madhopur would witness good rain and thundershowers. There are also likelihoods of isolated rain over Churu, Bikaner and Sri Ganganagar as well.

However, rains are most likely to escape Barmer, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, and Nagaur.

This spell of on and off Monsoon rains will continue for the next two to three days over the eastern parts of Rajasthan, however western districts would remain relatively dry.

On a similar note, maximum temperatures are likely to settle in the high 30s in West Rajasthan, with one or two places might even touching the 40 degree mark. Comparatively, the day temperature in East Rajasthan would range in low 30s on account of rains and cloudy sky conditions.

As on July 12, East Rajasthan, as well as West Rajasthan, remained rain surplus by 8% and 5%, respectively.
