Gujarat and North Maharashtra gearing for flooding rains

Between June 1 and July 9, Saurashtra and Kutch received excess rainfall of 59%, Gujarat region is also in the normal rain category with 4% less rainfall. Since last one week also, many parts of Gujarat have been receiving moderate to heavy showers.

One after another low-pressure areas are developing over northwest and West Central Bay of Bengal and travelling in westerly direction towards Gujarat. A fresh low-pressure area has formed over south Odisha. It will also travel in westerly direction and reach North Madhya Maharashtra and South Gujarat by July 13.

It will activate the monsoon surge over West Coast leading to heavy rainfall over Gujarat, Vidarbha, North Madhya Maharashtra and Konkan and Goa. Places like Nagpur, Akola, Amravati, Aurangabad, Nasik, Malegaon, Jalgaon, Ahmednagar, Thane and Dahanu in Maharashtra heavy downpour from July 11.

Rain will be very heavy over North Konkan and Goa and parts of South Gujarat on July 12 and 13. Saurashtra region of Gujarat may also get moderate to heavy showers on July 13 and 14.

Rain activities over Mumbai and suburbs are expected to increase from July 11. 3-digit rainfall is possible over Mumbai and suburbs between July 11 and 14.
