The first pre monsoon activity of the season made an appearance over Delhi last week. When the weather activity was not an extensive one, it did result in the drop in maximum temperatures over the entire national capital.

However, now the weather system which caused has moved away and the current Western Disturbance over the hills of North India is a very mild one. Thus, temperatures have once again started to increase over entire Delhi and the NCR region.

Yesterday, Safdarjung observatory as well as Palam fell a little short of observing heat wave conditions however other parts of Delhi did witness heat wave making a comeback.

On the other hand, Safdarjung recorded 41.6 degrees today, which happens to be 5 degrees above normal, resulting in heat wave conditions. These conditions are expected to continue for a couple of days or so.

Thereafter, relief is expected as there is a possibility of thunderstorm activity around April 21 and 22. More activity is possible on April 21. This is because of a Western Disturbance approaching and a Circulation over Haryana and adjoining areas. Wind pattern will also change.

All these features will result in a drop in temperatures and abatement of heat wave conditions.
