During the Monsoon season, Punjab and Haryana would witness active Monsoon conditions in three situations. One is the Monsoon systems which forms in the Bay of Bengal and travels across the central parts and reaches Rajasthan. The oscillating nature ofMonsoon Troughalso gives the weather activities and the third one is the presence of the Western Disturbances. When more than one weather system works in tandem, then the intensity of weather activities is on a rise.
At present, we are having back to back weather systems and currently, a Low-Pressure Area is overMadhya Pradeshand adjoining parts of Chhattisgarh. The wide circulation of this system is covering West Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Rajasthan. Also, the Western Disturbance would be approaching North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir.
The Low-Pressure Areais likely to progress further westward towards West Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Rajasthan regions. On the interaction of these two weather systems by tomorrow, good wet spells will be a sight on July 31, August 1 and August 2.
Hence,Punjab and Haryanawill see widespread rainfall activities. These rains will be intermittent and moderate in nature with isolated heavy spells in between. However, the activity will be less intense on July 3.
These rains will help in bringing down the temperature, a drop of three to five degrees is a possibility. Also, it will be beneficial for crops. Haryana which at present is deficit by 23% will inch towards normal.
These incessant rains might cause localised flooding, but the chaotic situation seems to be ruled out.
Places like Karnal, Hisar, Ambala, Rohtak, Jalandhar, Chandigarh, Pathankot, Amritsar, and Faridkot will see good Monsoon rains and thundershowers which will be accompanied by strong winds as well.
