After Cyclone Fani, rains have been scattered over Odisha however Coastal areas had received a few good spells during the last few days. Now, a Well-Marked Low-Pressure Area which is over Bay of Bengal will start affecting the region. Rains have already commenced over many parts of Odisha due to the system. During the last 24 hours, scattered light to moderate rains with isolated heavy spells have occurred over Odisha. Now, we expect that the rain intensity will increase further during the next 36 to 48 hours.

We expect heavy to very heavy rains over many parts of Odisha today and tomorrow leading to the replenishment of water level and restoration of soil moisture. The rain deficiency is set to decrease to some extent.

After July 2, the rain belt will shift over Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha but on and off rains will continue to pour over Odisha. Thereafter as well, another good spell of rain are expected to affect Odisha by July 5. On July 5, 6 and 7 we expect few good spells of light to moderate rains with a few heavy spells to occur over the state.

So, we can say that this is one of the rainiest weeks since the onset of Monsoon apart from the rains induced by Cyclone Fani. Seems like the month of July is going to start with a bang for Odisha and the state will get ample rains to minimize its rain deficiency. Localized waterlogging and flooding can’t be ruled out.
