The hills of North India i.e. Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand experienced rainy spell between December 11 to 14. During that time, widespread rain and snowfall activities were witnessed over Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh along with isolated higher reaches of Uttarakhand.

In fact, due to rain and snow, day temperatures over most popular tourist destinations also dropped significantly and were settling below normal by almost 6˚C to 11˚C.

However, after that since the last three days, in the absence of any significant weather system, dry weather conditions are being observed over all the three hilly states of North India.

At present, a feeble Western Disturbance an upper air system is moving across Jammu and Kashmir region. Therefore, weather over the hills will continue to remain dry with cloudy sky over the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir during the next 48 hours. We do not expect any kind of weather activity.

Moreover, due to no major weather activity, we expect day conditions to remain pleasant over most tourist places such as Srinagar, Mussoorie, Shimla, Nainital, Manali and many more.

Day temperatures are likely to drop and settle near normal. Some places may even observe double-digit maximums. Meanwhile, no change in night temperatures will be seen, as they will continue to settle close to zero and even sub-zero over few places.

Further, next significant weather activities in terms of rain and snow will been experienced near Christmas i.e. around December 25. Till then weather will remain cold and pleasant making it perfect for the travelers to visit the hills of North India.
