Winter rains to lash Muzaffarnagar, Bareilly, Moradabad and Meerut from today

After freezing weather conditions, Uttar Pradesh is gearing up for a spell of winter rain commencing today.

The weather models are indicating chances of moderate rain and thundershowers in the northwestern districts such as Muzaffarnagar, Bareilly, Moradabad and Meerut in next 24 hours.

The central parts of the state such as Kanpur, Lucknow etc may observe scattered rain, however, weather in East Uttar Pradesh may remain mainly dry throughout this spell.

The Western Disturbance over the Western Himalayas would be responsible for giving rains across the northwestern plains including Uttar Pradesh for next few days.

These activities are likely to commence by today afternoon and may last until the morning of January 14. Thereafter, the weather is expected to go dry, however not for long! As another system is quick succession would take a form, resulting in more rains.

The next episode is likely to commence from the afternoon of January 16 and continue for another 24 hours. During this period, not only the northwestern districts, but the eastern districts too may observe good rain and thundershowers. The intensity, however, would be more in Northwest UP.

The state of Uttar Pradesh has been experiencing dry weather for the past three to four days. The morning and nights are cold with moderate to a dense layer of fog followed by cool and pleasant days and bright sunshine.
