Capital city of Madhya Pradesh has gone through stormy weather conditions for over 48hr. Good news is that inclement weather conditions will cease henceforth and remain harmless, at least till the weekend. The downpour over the last 2 days and opening of sluice gates of  overflowing dams have breached the capacity utilization of most water bodies.

Streams of water over roads and lanes had worsened the connectivity and hampered the relief work. However, weather will not play a spoilsport any further, for the rescue and rehabilitation work, undertaken by the disaster managing agencies.

Bhopal received three digit 24hr rainfall on 2 successive days, 191mm on Sunday and 182mm on Monday, 22ndAug. Earlier on 16thAug, the city had received 124mm rainfall in 24hr. The capital city has gathered 758.6mm rainfall so far, against the monthly normal of 402.6mm.  The city still retains its 24hr highest rainfall record of 284mm on 30thAug 1973. Also, the monthly highest of 767mm in the same year is yet to be breached.

Depression, which ravaged the state over the last 3days has weakened and also moved over Southeast Rajasthan. Weather conditions will improve significantly for the city, today itself. No disrupting weather is likely till end of the week.  Another cyclonic circulation has emerged over Bay of Bengal and may turn into a feeble low pressure area in the next 48hr.

However, this will be a frail system and weaken further, when moves over land. Eastern half of Madhya Pradesh will observe moderate rainfall between 27th and 29thAug. The capital city will also observe moderate showers on 30th and 31stAug, albeit not amounting to disruption in normal activities.
