Since the start of Monsoon season over Bangladesh, most of its regions have been witnessing good showers. In fact, heavy to very heavy rains have been observed over the country during last 24 hours as well.

The low pressure area prevailing over Bangladesh and adjoining West Bengal has given heavy to very heavy showers with extremely heavy at few places during last 24 hours.

In a span of 24 hours, Khulna recorded a whopping 271 mm of rains followed by Patuakhali with 229 mm hefty showers. Also, Barisal observed heavy showers of 226 mm, Jessore 192 mm, Bhola recorded 185 mm, Chandpur 169 mm and Gopalganj 166 mm rainfall.

Now, this weather system is likely to intensify into a well-marked low pressure area and will move towards west. Due to this movement of the system, the intensity of rain will reduce over Bangladesh after 24 hours, however light to moderate rain or thundershowers, along with gusty winds, are expected to occur at few places of Bangladesh. These regions include Dhaka, Mymensingh, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong & Sylhet divisions.

Moreover, flooding is also expected over southern districts of Bangladesh.
