Typhoon Sarika hammered northeastern Philippines on an early Sunday which left two people dead and several thousand exiled.
The storm hit the villages hard and left them flooded along with tumbled trees and power outages.
Further, the typhoon forced the absconded villagers to take shelter in 132 refugee camps, as claimed by the Disaster Response Agencies. Keeping in mind the destruction that the typhoon had already made, sea and air travels were deferred.
Typhoon Sarika that brought along strong winds, also knocked down trees and electricity poles. Due to this, more than 246,000 people were also deprived of power that includes the telephone lines as well.
In fact, total damage to twenty homes was also reported. Moreover, the typhoon also triggered heavy rains causing flooding in Vietnam after it loomed there claiming almost 24 lives and leaving 4 other missing.
The Quang Binh province of the state was the worst hit by Sarika claiming 18 lives and leaving 3 other missing. Six more people succumbed to death at three other central provinces.
Torrential rains up to 90 cm also flooded lakhs of homes in the region thereby disrupting the North-South Highway along with affecting crops and infrastructures.
As per the latest reports, typhoon Sarika, locally named as Karen, is now at the South China Sea. The typhoon is likely to threaten parts of South Vietnam and China with destructive strong winds and flooding rains early this week.
