August 25, 2015 3:29 PM |

wildfireWildfires have been raging across the northwestern parts of USA for two weeks now. The wildfire was sparked off by lightning. Dozens of wildfires are currently affecting the region and have spread smoke which has blocked sunlight and polluted the air. This has caused serious health issues.

People who are already having some lung and heart ailments are the most vulnerable due to this situation. These people should avoid going out in the smoky environment and should stay indoors. Strenuous workouts in this hazardous conditions should also be avoided.

People might have to evacuate in some parts. The wildfires have also resulted in closure of some highways and railway lines.

This year so far more than 7.4 million acres of land has been burnt by wildfires which is way above the normal average of 5.2 million acres. According to National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC) firefighters have come all the way from Australia and New Zealand to help in dousing off the wildfires. As of now none of the 72 active massive wildfires have been contained.

Unfortunately, the people and firefighters have to wait until the weekend when rainfall will help in putting off the wildfires. The rains will also help in clearing the atmosphere which is currently under thick layer of smoke.
