September 12, 2013 1:01 PM |

The picturesque hills of Himachal Pradesh with altitude varying from 350 to 7000 metres above the mean sea level are among the most popular tourist destinations in India. Nestled in the laps of Himalayas, these strikingly beautiful hills exude immense natural beauty.

The tourism industry in these popular hill stations took a setback owing to heavy rains during the peak monsoon season. However, tourism is slowly returning to normalcy, as monsoon has started to retreat. With the thinning out of monsoon clouds hovering over the mountains, tourists have once again started visiting mountains without any apprehension. Major tourist attractions including Shimla, Kullu, Manali and Dalhousie are fondly referred to as the 'magical showcase of nature', on account of their scenic beauty and breath-taking landscapes.

Long meadows with green valleys in the backdrop of snow-clad mountains, make the state one of the most favorable tourism destination in India. Freshwater lakes, meandering natural springs and clean rivers are like jewel of this hilly terrain.

The tourism industry in Himachal Pradesh, especially Kinnaur district, suffered a humongous loss following devastation during the monsoon season. Nearly 1,500 tourists were stranded in the Sangla Valley of Shimla, where incessant rainfall triggered massive landslides and blocked the road to Kinnaur. However, hotels have started making advance bookings for the festive season. Take a break from the urban chaotic life and book a tour to the enchanting hills of Himachal Pradesh for a heavenly experience on earth.
