kashmir-voting CroppedBesides the flood devastation, people of Jammu and Kashmir have to now brave the cold as they step out tomorrow to cast their vote.  Temperatures are slipping below freezing point in several parts of Jammu and Kashmir leaving people shivering in the valley. But as the assembly elections are set to begin on 25th November, polling booths may witness people turning out in good numbers, given the pleasant mornings and slightly warm days.

Despite hit by floods in September and presently observing icy winds, Jammu and Kashmir prepares to seal the fates of many aspirants as assembly elections tomorrow onwards.

The assembly segments going to polls include Kishtwar, Inderwal, Doda, Bhaderwah, Ramban and Banihal (in Jammu division); Gurez, Bandipora, Sonawari, Kangan and Ganderbal (in Kashmir), Nobra, Leh, Kargil and Zanskar (in Ladakh).

Leh has been witnessing minimum temperature around -9°C below zero degrees for last few days. The situation is similar for other parts of Jammu and Kashmir as Bhaderwah and Kukernag observed -1.5°C on 24th November. Jammu is also witnessing minimums which are below normal. The minimum temperature in Jammu was 7.9°C which was 4° below normal.

Though the cold air tightens its grip over hilly state of Jammu and Kashmir, no inclement weather is likely to hamper the J&K polls.
