Good showers continue to lash Peninsular IndiaMost parts of Peninsular India have been receiving good rains. Tamil Nadu and Kerala in particular have been lashed by good showers. In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Alappuzha recorded 60 mm of rain, Machilipatnam 8.6 mm, Nellore 15.2 mm, Cuddapah 8 mm, Dharampuri 10 mm, Kalavai 16 mm, Mailam 22 mm, and Vijayawada 9 mm.

During the same span Kannur recorded 13 mm of rain, Kochi 12 mm, Kottayam 18 mm, Kozhikode 12 mm, Thiruvananthapuram 21 mm, Agumbe 23 mm, Chitradurga 10 mm, Gulbarga 16 mm, and Mangalore 25 mm.

The cyclonic circulation is extending up to the mid tropospheric levels over the west-central Bay of Bengal off the North Andhra and South Odisha coast. The wind shear zone is around 15° Latitude and continues to pass. These two systems will persist and give good rains over Peninsular India. Parts of Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu may receive heavy showers as well.

During the next 24 hours, fairly widespread light to moderate rain is likely over Andhra Pradesh, South and Coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Northeast Tamil Nadu. Konkan Goa, Telangana, and Coastal Odisha is expected to receive scattered light rain.

Conditions are favourable for the Onset of Northeast Monsoon in the next few days. Northeast Monsoon is very important for some parts of Peninsular India, particularly Tamil Nadu and Rayalaseema. During this season, many areas in South India receive good rains.
